ABOUT THE SHATTER NETWORK

The Shatter Network was created because we believe women supporting other women will lead to greater societal changes.

If more women were empowered, confident, brave enough to negotiate earlier in their careers, as they climb the ranks they'd be comfortable to ask for what they need in thriving professionally while balancing a life outside of work.

The Shatter Network is made up of women leaders who have volunteered to support other women by spending a little time with them on the phone or over coffee (if geography allows) to discuss career goals, employment opportunities and what they would like to get out of their roles and jobs.

It is our hope that through this, more women will have the confidence to ask for what they need, remain in the workforce and become leaders who pave a path for others coming behind them.

ONE WOMAN CAN IMPACT ANOTHER WOMAN'S CAREER.

AN EMPOWERED WOMAN CAN THEN CHANGE A COMPANY'S CULTURE.

ONE COMPANY'S CULTURE CAN CHANGE AN INDUSTRY.

AN INDUSTRY CAN CHANGE MANY INDUSTRIES.

MANY INDUSTRIES CAN CHANGE ALL INDUSTRIES.

It took me quite a long time to develop a voice, and now that I have it, I am not going to be silent.

The Founder of The Shatter Network

Before we can shatter, we begin with a crack.

Catherine Merritt founded The Shatter Network with a belief in her heart and a leaning toward action in her genes.

The daughter of two social justice advocates and change-agents, Catherine began to realize that much of her success was rooted in her ability and confidence to negotiate as career opportunities arose. This was due largely to mentors and women she admired who encouraged her early throughout her career. She was able to ask for what was needed to thrive in the workplace while raise her family. However, Catherine saw that other women she worked with were not as vocal and advocating for balance resulting in many opting out of the workforce or plateauing without reaching higher leadership levels.

Catherine started The Shatter Network to empower and build confidence (in the way others did for her) to ensure every woman has someone out there who will help her advocate and grow her career.
